Last year’s fireworks show consisted of 8 scenes. To celebrate the Year of the Pig, the patterns of pig nose are introduced to the second scene with the background music from the local comics McDull. McDull is a cute pig character from the popular local comics.

Besides the pig nose, number 8, ingot and heart shape fireworks will also show in the Chinese New Year fireworks display.

Don’t blink in the last 25 seconds of the fireworks display. A large quantity of fireworks will be shot up at the same time to welcome the coming of Year of the Pig.

Since the fireworks will always be launched from four barges on Victoria Harbour, the best vantage points to enjoy the 2020 Hong Kong lunar New Year fireworks display are along Victoria Harbour in Tsim Sha Tsui (TST), Central, Wan Chai and of course on the harbour.

Great news for everyone that the new Avenue of Stars has managed to reopen on the January 31st 2019 after over three-year reconstruction since October 2015. It is, without a double, one of the hottest spots for enjoying not only the Chinese New Year fireworks display, but also the stunning Hong Kong skyline and Victoria Harbour.

Usually, Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront promenade from Clock Tower, Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza to Salisbury Garden is the best spot of all the options to enjoy the show. Not only because it is right facing the stunning skyscrapers and skyline, but also there are speakers installed on the Observation Deck next to the TST Clock Tower. You can enjoy the fireworks show along with the special composed music (which upgrades the fun).

Without a doubt, the best place is also the most crowded place. Every year, majority of the visitors will come to the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront to enjoy the fireworks show. If you decide to visit the fireworks at this spot, get there earlier and prepare a lot of crowds.

Other hot spots like Golden Bauhinia Square, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, Star Ferry Piers, Tamar Park, Central harbourfront will also be filled up very quickly. Bars and restaurants with top views, such as Ozone Bar, Aqua Bar, Sevva Bar etc, will be booked out very fast.

There are two new great fireworks viewing spots. One is the the latest public garden “Sky Corridor of Hong Kong West Kowloon Station“, which is open in Sep of 2018. Another one is Hong Kong’s new observation deck “Ocean Terminal Deck” with 270-degree panorama view. Last year the Hong Kong Maritime Museum at Central Pier No.8 also offered tickets for watching Chinese New Year Fireworks. Let’s see whether they will offer it again.

In a word, be prepared that all the vantage points will fill quickly and will be very crowded. Keep in mind that the fireworks schedule and prepare plenty of time to travel to and from the locations.
